Biography

A member of the comedy group The Lonely Island, an Andy Samberg appearance can be seen on the group’s website where sketches and music can be downloaded. He played the role of Jesse Miller in The OC parody The ‘Bu, the group’s famous contribution to Channel 101. They also created Awesometown, a pilot for FOX. In addition, The Lonely Island has written for several award shows including the 2004 and 2005 MTV Movie Awards.

In 2005, Samberg joined Saturday Night Live as a featured player. Though his live sketch roles were limited in his first year, Samberg had numerous non-live sketches, including commercial parodies and many other filmed segments. December 17 of that year, Samberg and Chris Parnell appeared in the Digital Short “Lazy Sunday,” a rap which instantly became an Internet phenomenon. Since then, Samberg gained media and public attention. He also did a duet with Justine Timberlake in “Dick in a Box,” which won a Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics. The 32nd season of SNL in 2006 began with Samberg being promoted to repertory status.
