Everyone can make other people laugh, but Bill Hader’s comedic skills are one of a kind. This natural talent eventually led him to the Los Angeles chapter of the famed Second City, a comedy troupe that has trained several SNL cast members since the 1970s. There was also a Bill Hader appearance with another famed LA comedy troupe, iO West. During his time with both troupes, Hader worked as a production assistant on the DVD Empire of Dreams: The Story of the Star Wars Trilogy and Collateral Damage. He also worked as an assistant on VH1’s The Surreal Life, but was best known for his work as a field agent on MTV’s Punk’d.
While working with the comedy troupe Animals from the Future, Hader was introduced to Saturday Night Live producer Lorne Michaels, who hired him as a feature player. The first Bill Hader appearance on SNL was in October 2005, where he became known for his impressions of famous celebrities. He also appeared on You, Me and Dupree, Knocked Up, Hot Rod, The Brothers Solomon, and most famously, in Superbad. His role in Superbad paved the way to more mainstream program appearances like TRL, The Tonight Show, and even presenting at MTV’s Video Music Awards.
