In 1962, Fergie Jenkins was signed by Philadelphia Phillies scout Tony Lucadello, with the first Fergie Jenkins appearance in the major league three years later. In 1966, he was traded to the Chicago Cubs, where he became one of the best pitchers in the league. In the first full year of a Fergie Jenkins appearance, he recorded 20 wins while posting a 2.80 ERA and 236 strikeouts, leading him to finish second in the Cy Young Award voting.
