Carter Oosterhouse’s career as a carpenter began at the early age of 12 when he would work with his neighbor, a carpenter, on weekends. Throughout high school and college Oosterhouse continued to work and learn the business of construction while taking part in small projects when he had time off. After graduating from Central Michigan University Oosterhouse decided to move to Los Angeles to peruse a career in acting and modeling. He got his first big break when he was cast as a carpenter on TLC’s Trading Spaces. He was then cast in roles on several spinoffs of the show including Trading Space: Boys vs. Girls and Trading Space: Family Spaces. In 2007 Carter began his own show with the DIY network called Carter Can, and in 2008 he began hosting Red Hot and Green as well. In addition to hosting several construction and remodeling shows, Oosterhouse has also had guest appearances on several television shows and films, and is frequently featured in magazine and print ads.
