Jodi Marks claims to have been born with construction in her blood. Growing up, she would travel with her dad, who owned his own construction business, to various sites, where she would follow him around as he worked, offering to do anything from hold the flashlight, to get him tools from his tool box. As she got older she would spend her entire summers working on the site, sometimes walking the site, to make sure everything was in order. After she graduated high school, her dad offered her a job as project manager at one of his sites. She took the job, and it was there that she said she learned most about all aspects of home repair and remodeling. Although she loved the construction industry, Jodi also had a strong passion for the entertainment industry. As she worked construction by day, she began to take film classes at night, and did work with several small theaters and commercials. Then, in 1997, her love for film and knowledge of home renovation finally collided when she was offered a job as host of HGTV’s Fix It Up. Since then Jodi has hosted several other home renovation shows, including Southern Home By Design and the Man Made Movie. In addition, she has also created the series, The Tile Doctor, which is a set of home improvement videos, focusing on tiling your home.
