Although he is an expert when it comes to gardening today, Paul James admits that there was a time when he absolutely hated gardening. His hatred stemmed from spending long, hot August summers picking Bermuda grass out of his father’s vegetable garden. Paul has come a long way since then. Today, he is known by most as “The Gardener Guy”, creating, producing, and hosting the hit HGTV series Gardening by the Yards, and shooting almost the entire show from his own backyard. Paul insists anyone can become a gardener, and he hopes that through his show he can inspire people to create their own gardens. Paul’s own gardening career began back in 1978 when he bought his first home, with a yard. He has graduated school after studying botany, plant physiology and plant pathology. He later when on to get his master certification in 1983. Although his educational background is both credible an impressive, Paul insists that most of his knowledge has come from actually working in his own garden and making a few mistakes along the way.
