Paul Ryan has always dreamed of a career in the construction industry. His career began as a teenager, working as a carpenter at Valleyfair Amusement park in Shakopee, Minnesota. Over the years, he worked his way up there, and eventually became the head carpenter/inspector. Paul says he received some of the best hands on experience and knowledge from working at the park, claiming that the park itself was the equivalent to a small city, meaning that all aspects of construction and improvement were needed. In addition to carpentry, Paul is also experienced in fiberglass and plumbing. After moving to Los Angeles, Paul was discovered by the DIY Network for his unique ability to combine his carpentry skills with speaking. He was hired as an expert carpenter on the show, Kitchen Renovations, where he works with a team of designers to finish kitchen remodeling projects. In addition, Paul has also hosted several home improvement videos, about power tools.
