Rebecca Kolls has been working in gardens for most of her life, but it was her experience in Minneapolis that allowed her to turn her true passion into a career. Rebecca attended the University of Kansas where she obtained a degree in atmospheric science. After graduating she went on to work at a local news station in Minneapolis, delivering the nightly weather forecasts. Here, she would add in helpful gardening tips each time she was on the air and eventually, she began delivering the forecasts from a garden she created on top of the station building. Her unique presentations and useful gardening tips made her a standout among other meteorologists in the area, and she quickly became a fan favorite. Upon hearing about Rebecca’s unique forecasts, Oprah Winfrey called as asked her to be a guest on her show. This led to another opportunity for Rebecca to host her own show on HGTV called Rebecca’s garden, where she could finally turn her passion for gardening into a career.
