Tony Frassrand has been around construction his entire life. As the son of a Michigan home builder, Tony can’t remember a time when he wasn’t surrounded by construction. As a kid his overnight campouts often meant bringing a sleeping bag to one of the framed houses his father was working on. While in high school Tony took a job working on one of his father’s construction sites, putting up plywood and drywall for various homes. While in college, Tony took a break from construction and decided to pursue a career in broadcast journalism. He took a job as the play by play announcer for the University of Miami college sports program, and after graduation went on to work for CNN and CNN Headline News. He went on to host the Emmy nominated CNN Newsroom and a educational program on TBS called Turner Adventures. Today, he has finally found a place where he can combine is love for broadcasting with his passion for construction as host of HGTV’s House Detective.
