Cheryl Diaz Meyer is a Pulitzer Prize winning freelance photographer based in Dallas, Texas. While working for the Dallas Morning News her work in Iraq won the 2004 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography. Over the years Diaz Meyer has been to Iraq several times, first following the Second Tank Battalion of the First Marine Division throughout the invasion, and then for the capture of Saddam Hussein, she has since returned to cover the aftermath of the violence. She has also traveled to the Philippines and to Indonesia to photograph violent Muslim and Christian extremism and to China, Kuwait, Russia, and the Czech Republic to document other stories.
