Garry Wills is a prominent historian, author, and journalist, specializing in American politics, political history, ideology, and the Roman Catholic Church. His book Lincoln at Gettysburg: the Words That Remade America won him a Pulitzer Prize for General Non-Fiction. He was also awarded the National Medal for the Humanities in 1998 and he has won the National Book Critics Circle Award twice in his career. In 1980 Wills became an adjunct professor of history, both American and cultural, at Northwestern University. Today, although retired from Northwestern, Wills continues to write, publishing his most recent book in 2006.
