Best known for holding the record of highest finish for a female driver in the 24 Hours of Daytona, Milka Duno is the first Venezuelan women to start a career in professional motorsports at an international level. Additionally, she was the first Venezuelan athlete inducted into the Latin American International Sports Hall of Fame. Duno began racing at a late age of 24. She first became interested in the sport after being invited to a car clinic by a car club in Venezuela. Although she is not recognized for wins in her career, Duno has competed in three Indianapolis 500 races. In 2007, Duno was a part of history as it was the first time that three women were included in the 33-car field at the Indianapolis 500. Currently, Milka Duno still races for the Dale Coyne Racing team. Outside of racing, Duno obtained Master’s Degrees in Organizational Development, Naval Architecture, Maritime Business and Marine Biology. She has prior experience working as a naval engineer.
