Few players in Major League Baseball history have enjoyed a season like Fred Lynn had in 1975. In his rookie year with the Boston Red Sox, Lynn hit .331 with 21 home runs and 105 RBI. That earned him Rookie of the Year honors in addition to the American League MVP Award and a Gold Glove. He went on to play in nine straight All-Star Games, and, along with Jim Rice, he deserves a lot of credit for restoring the popularity of the Boston Red Sox. Lynn also played for the California Angels, Baltimore Orioles, Detroit Tigers and San Diego Padres, and his career statistics undoubtedly would have been even more impressive had he not been hampered by injuries. He ended his career with 306 home runs and 1,111 RBI to rank among the leaders of his era. Lynn is a member of the College Baseball Hall of Fame and the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame.
