Even though his monolithic record of 755 home runs is likely to be broken by Barry Bonds or someone else, that will not diminish the remarkable accomplishments of slugger Henry “Hank” Aaron. And while he is best known for passing Babe Ruth to take baseball’s all-time home run record, Hank Aaron was much more than just a power hitter. He hit for average, was a solid fielder and he posted amazingly consistent numbers over his long career, primarily for the Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves.

Over the next 25 years, he became one of the most feared hitters in baseball and he ended the 1973 season with 713 home runs, just one short of Babe Ruth. He tied the record in Cincinnati and then on April 8, 1974, back in Atlanta, Hank Aaron hit his historic 715th home run off Al Downing. The footage of that home run has been seen by just about everyone who owns a TV.
