Title: Former MLB Player & AuthorIn 1962, Jim Bouton began his professional career playing for the New York Yankees. He has been regarded as a pitching phenomenon and was known for his hard-throwing and great fastball. Bouton played in the 1963 All-Star Game. His arm injury in 1968 caused his career to slow down a bit, but he used his knuckleball as a backup so he could stay a star pitcher. Despite his hardships, Bouton went on to do great things. He co-wrote a book, Ball Four, which told stories of his life in major league baseball.
Bouton retired in 1970, however his passion for baseball could not leave him and he returned in 1975 and then in 1977 he got signed to play professionally with the Chicago White Sox. He also played for the Atlanta Braves. After his career ended his second time, he still gained popularity and fame through another book he wrote, as well as one written about him called The Greatest Summer by sportswriter Terry Pluto.
