A star pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles for two decades, Jim Palmer holds just about every Orioles pitching record and ranks highly on several of the all-time Major League Baseball lists. A winner of three Cy Young Awards, Jim Palmer grew up in New York and turned pro at the age of 17. He made his Orioles debut in 1965 and never wore another team’s uniform in his long career. Jim Palmer is the only pitcher in history to have won a World Series game in three different decades, and his 7-5 postseason record with a 2.61 ERA helped the Orioles win three world championships. Perhaps his finest season came in 1975, when he won 21 games, threw 10 shutouts and had a 2.09 ERA, all best in the American League. A member of the Baseball Hall of Fame, Jim Palmer is also an accomplished broadcaster. He previously worked for ABC and ESPN and now calls games for his former team.
