Prior to joining the Chunichi Dragons of the Japanese Central League, the most important Kosuke Fukudome appearance was with the 1996 Olympic Team that won a silver medal. At 19, he was the youngest play to ever be selected for an Olympic baseball team. Fukudome’s nine seasons with the Chunichi Dragons became an important part of his resume, establishing himself as one of the league’s best hitters and also winning the 1996 Central League MVP award. In 2004, he again joined the Japanese National Team and won the bronze medal in the Athens Olympics.
