Most people are lucky if they make a name for themselves in one field, but Bill Bradley has distinguished himself in two. A Hall of Fame basketball player, Bradley became a household name for a second time in his career as a U.S. Senator for New Jersey and a democratic presidential candidate in 2000. Bradley played college ball at Princeton University, where he was the 1965 Player of the Year and a three-time All-American. Shortly before he graduated with honors as a Rhodes scholar, Bradley led the U.S. Olympic basketball team to a gold medal as team captain. During his second season as a pro on the New York Knicks, Bradley helped lead the team to their first NBA title, followed by its second in 1973. Bradley retired from the sport in 1977, and in 1978, he successfully won his first Senate bid. He remained in Congress until 1997, and he competed against Vice President Al Gore in the 2000 presidential primaries. He currently works as a corporate consultant in the private sector for non-profit organizations.
