Biography

A defensive force who could also score with the best of them, Bill Russell had an amazing career spanning 13 seasons in the NBA. At the end of 11 of those seasons with the Boston Celtics, Russell celebrated an NBA championship, giving him the record for most titles earned by a single player. But things did not come easy for Russell, who overcame racism and poverty to become the first major African-American star in the NBA, helping pave the way for future stars like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. After his retirement from the NBA, Russell coached the Seattle Supersonics and the Sacramento Kings, worked as a broadcaster and wrote several books.

Bill Russell is not any easy guy to track down and Bill Russell appearances are rare – he was even a no-show when the Celtics retired his jersey and when he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. So if you want to arrange for a Bill Russell speaking engagement or Bill Russell endorsement, you need TSE in your corner to take care of the negotiations.

**Bill Russell Speaker**

A Bill Russell speaker appearance is sure to bring a championship-type atmosphere to your event. At 6’9”, Russell is a big attraction, both literally and figuratively.

**Bill Russell Appearance**

The NBA All-Star roster featured a Bill Russell appearance 12 times in his 13-year career. That’s quite an accomplishment, and so is the fact that when Russell took the position of player-coach of the Celtics in 1966 he became the first African-American to coach a major U.S. sport.

**Bill Russell Endorsement**

Not always a favorite of the media or even some fans during his career, it’s hard to forget the Bill Russell endorsement that the Boston Garden faithful gave the big man with a thunderous ovation when he made a rare appearance to have his jersey retired a second time.
