Named one of the 50 greatest NBA players of all time during the league’s 50th anniversary celebration in 1996, it’s logical to believe that Clyde Drexler is at the upper end of that list. Nicknamed “Clyde the Glide” because of his ability to soar through the air en route to a dunk, Clyde Drexler starred along with Hakeem Olajuwon as part of “Phi Slama Jama” at the University of Houston before moving on to the NBA. In his pro career, Clyde Drexler was a 10-time all-star with the Portland Trailblazers and Houston Rockets, winning an NBA championship with the latter. Also a member of the 1992 “Dream Team” that won an Olympic gold medal in Barcelona, Clyde Drexler retired from the NBA in 1998 and coached the University of Houston basketball team for three years before moving to the broadcast booth, where he calls games for the Rockets. The Basketball Hall of Famer also showed off his fancy footwork on the hit show Dancing with the Stars on ABC.
