Biography

The first Cynthia Cooper appearance on the basketball court wasn’t until she was 16. In college, she was a four-year letter winner from 1982 to 1986. She was part of the Lady Trojans who had back-to-back NCAA tournament titles in 1983 and 1984. In her senior year in 1986, she led the team to an NCAA tournament championship game. She also had a spot on the NCAA Final Four All-Tournament Team.

In Cooper’s WNBA career, she was voted MVP in 1997 and 1998 and also won four WNBA Championships with the Houston Comets. Cooper became the first player in WNBA history to score 500, 1,000, 2,000 and 2,500 career points.

In the 1988 Olympics, Cooper and her team won the gold medal, while taking home the bronze in the 1992 Olympics.
