Perhaps he doesn’t get as many highlights on SportsCenter because assists and rebounds aren’t as sexy as scoring points, but the under-appreciated Jason Kidd just might be the most complete player in the NBA. The king of the triple-double (recording double digits in points, rebounds and assists), Jason Kidd has been an unselfish star at every level of play. He only needed two years at the University of California at Berkeley before he was ready for the NBA, and the Dallas Mavericks took him with the #2 pick in the 1994 draft. He shared Rookie of the Year honors with Grant Hill in 1995 and shortly thereafter was traded to the Phoenix Suns. Then after leading the Suns to five straight playoff appearances, he was traded again, this time to the New Jersey Nets. The point guard then took the once-lowly Nets to the NBA Finals in back-to-back years, a major accomplishment for any team leader. In 2008, Kidd was traded back to where it all started, as part of one of the year’s blockbuster deals going back to Dallas. A nine-time NBA All-Star, Jason Kidd is surely headed to the Basketball Hall of Fame after his playing days are over.
