From his start at Power Memorial High School in New York City (when he was known as Lew Alcindor) to his retirement as the NBA’s all-time leader in nine major statistical categories, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar dominated basketball.

Named NBA Rookie of the Year, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar became an instant force in the league and won the MVP award six times in his career. Traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in 1976, he helped the Lakers earn five NBA championships and was part of a great rivalry with Larry Bird and the Boston Celtics.
