Biography

The first Spud Webb appearance on the NBA scene was during the 1985 Draft, when he was picked by the Detroit Pistons. He played his first seasons with the Atlanta Hawks and had his best years statistically with the Sacramento Kings. He also played with the Minnesota Timberwolves and finally with the Orlando Magic.

But aside from being an established NBA veteran for a number of years, Spud Webb is perhaps best known for his diminutive size. In a game dominated by towering seven footers, Spud Webb’s five foot, seven inch frame makes his 12 years of success in the league all the more impressive. In fact, he was the third shortest player to play in the NBA. Only Earl Boykins and Muggsy Bogues were shorter. And he’s the shortest person to ever win the NBA slam dunk contest.

Spud Webb Speaker

Webb’s NBA career was considered the story of a small man in a big man’s game. After graduating from high school he was not recruited by most colleges mainly due to his size. Many even said that he would never get a chance to play in the NBA. However, Webb didn’t worry about what others said about him. His determination and competitive spirit led him to achieve the seemingly impossible dream of playing in the NBA. With his unique and inspiring life story, a Spud Webb speaker appearance is a chance for your audience to hear from a man who worked hard and defied the towering odds against him.

Spud Webb Appearance

A Spud Webb appearance at the 1986 NBA Slam Dunk Championship surprised the audience, but his stunning victory was considered his greatest achievement and one of the most electrifying moments in NBA history. He even beat out his teammate and famed dunker Dominque Wilkins who reportedly had never even seen Spud dunk.

Spud Webb Endorsement

Webb’s superb ball handling skills and spectacular dunks are part of his trademark gameplay. Thanks to his inspiring story of overcoming the odds, a Spud Webb endorsement promotes determination, grit, and success.
