In the 2004 to 2005 season, Nash led the Suns to the Western Conference Finals, earning the league’s MVP title in the process. This feat was repeated the following season, making him one of the few NBA players to ever repeat as league MVP. In 2006, he was named by ESPN as the ninth greatest point guard of all time. Nash also holds records as one of the top players in league history for three-point shooting, free-throw shooting, total assists and assists per game.

In 2006, Time magazine named Nash as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. In December 2007 it was announced that Nash would receive Canada’s highest civilian honour, the Order of Canada, and on June 2008, it was announced that he would earn a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame.
