A remarkable athlete, successful collegiate football coach, booming ESPN analyst, and director of the Leadership Program at Baylor, Bill Curry is said to be a genius at work. A 1965 Georgia Tech graduate with a degree in industrial management, Curry spent most of his time in the Yellow Jackets uniform. Starring as the center for the Yellow Jackets football team impressed the NFL, where he became an all-pro center.

Bill Curry shined as a professional football player with the Green Bay Packers, Houston Oilers, Baltimore Colts and Los Angeles Rams. The 1985 campaign may have been his best as Curry led the Yellow Jackets to an amazing 9-2-1 record, a victory in the All-American Bowl, and won the ACC Coach of the Year.

Curry coached three winning seasons at Georgia Tech and then another three when he moved on to the University of Alabama. While at with the Crimson Tide, Curry brought home an SEC Championship and made three straight bowl games. Dedicated to his players’ success, Curry often suspended his star players for unsportsmanlike celebrations. He embodied what it meant to be a coach, putting the team before himself and other stars.
