As former football player, an Ed Cunningham appearance came at center for the Arizona Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks. However, before joining the professional ranks, Cunningham captained the University of Washington Huskies that won the 1991 National Championship. He was voted All-Pac 10, second-team All-American, and was a two-time Academic All-American.
After his football stint that lasted five seasons, Cunningham joined the ranks of college football analysts at CBS. In 2000, he moved to ABC, where his debut came during Arena Bowl XIV. He also worked as a color analyst for TNN’s Arena Football League coverage and KUTP-TV’s coverage of AFL’s Arizona Rattlers while still playing in the NFL. Cunningham also provided weekly commentary on KGME Radio, Phoenix during that time.
