He worked with and coached kickers at the college level for six years, studying, mastering and loving the craft. He took some time as a consultant for the New York Jets and New England Patriots in the mid-90’s, as well as the kicking coordinator of the World League for a few years.
Thanks to his time in New England, he was recommended to the Dolphins as a kicking coach. In Blevins’ first year as kicking coach with the Miami Dolphins, he guided kicker Olindo Mare to 28 field goals and 117 points which were the most-ever by a Dolphins rookie or first-year player. Overall in his career with the Dolphins, Blevins coached Mare to connect for 79.4% of field goal attempts, which stands as the highest percent in club history.
