Houston Nutt is one of the top coaches in college football and has been for the better part of a decade. After moving around from Murray State and Boise State, Nutt found a home at the University of Arkansas. Hired on December 10, 1997, Houston Nutt spent a glorious decade leading the Razorbacks. In the eight years before Nutt was hired, Arkansas only went to two bowl games. Over the ten seasons Nutt coached the Razorbacks, the team went to seven bowl games and won two of them.

Among many superlatives during his Arkansas tenure, Nutt’s teams played in the two longest overtime games of all time at the point they were played, in 1999 they became the first team to ever hold the University of Texas to negative rushing yards and became a regular appearance in the top 25 polls. One of Nutt’s greatest accomplishments was recruiting, holding on to and bringing out the best in star running back Darren McFadden. McFadden broke all kinds of Arkansas records, was named All-American and was the runner-up for the Heisman Trophy in his three years under Houston Nutt. After the 2007 season, Houston Nutt accepted the head coaching position at the University of Mississippi where his job began in the 2008 season.
