Schnellenberger, a star tight end at Kentucky, also played professional football in the CFL, and he was the offensive coordinator for the 1972 Miami Dolphins, who remain the only team to win the Super Bowl after going undefeated in the regular season. As the offensive coordinator at Alabama, he won three national titles and helped recruit Joe Namath for head coach Bear Bryant. Schnellenberger and his wife Beverlee, who have been married for more than 40 years, live in Boca Raton, Florida.
