Jim Fassel knows football as a player, coach and a broadcaster. Born and raised in Southern California, Fassel played college football at USC and then Cal State-Long Beach before being drafted by the Chicago Bears. Although he never caught on as an NFL player, he did spend some time in the World Football League with a team called the Hawaiians. Then it was on to college coaching at Utah State, Utah and Stanford, where he coached the great John Elway. In his first year as an NFL head coach, he took the New York Giants to a 10-5-1 record with a playoff appearance, and he earned the 1997 NFL Coach of the Year Award. Just three years later he took the Giants to a 12-4 record and to Super Bowl XXXV, which they lost to the Baltimore Ravens. After leaving the Giants in 2003 he had a stint as the offensive coordinator for the Ravens, and now he is an NFL broadcaster for Westwood One Radio.
