As a player, Zorn was named NFC Offensive Rookie of the Year by the NFLPA and was Seahawks’ team MVP. In 1991, he became the second Seahawk inducted into the team’s Ring of Honor. There was also a Jim Zorn appearance with the Green Bay Packers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the NFL, and with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL.
After his playing career, a Jim Zorn appearance once again meant college football, but this time as an assistant coach. In 1988, he became the quarterbacks coach at Boise State University and then served as the offensive coordinator for Utah State in 1992. He also had a brief stint as the quarterbacks coach for the University of Minnesota.
Zorn’s professional coaching experience includes a year with the Seahawks as an offensive assistant and two years with the Detroit Lions as the quarterbacks coach. In 2001, he returned to the Seahawks as their quarterbacks coach until 2007. In February 2008, after very briefly serving as the Redskins’ new offensive coordinator, he was named new head coach.
