After spending nearly 20 years among the ranks of assistant college coaches, it didn’t take Nick Saban long to prove himself when he finally got a head coaching job. He got that shot in 1990 with the Toledo Rockets, and a 9-2 record helped propel him into the NFL, where he worked under coach Bill Belichick with the Cleveland Browns, and then on to Michigan State, where turned the Spartans into a Top 10 team in 1999. Then LSU came calling, and Saban guided them to a national championship in 2003. After a stint with the Miami Dolphins, Saban took on the challenge of rebuilding the proud football heritage at Alabama. Although his first season with the Crimson Tide was somewhat mediocre, Saban has a proven track record of turning programs around and Alabama fans are hoping that trend continues. Saban and his wife, Terry, have two daughters.
