Alan Faneca entered the draft in 1998 and was a first round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers. As a rookie, he won the Joe Greene award and had received All-Rookie honors. He attained All-Pro honors in 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006. Faneca has also been in six Pro-Bowl games, and started in five of them.
Faneca played his college football at Louisiana State University. In his career at LSU, he had 210 blocks and only allowed one sack in his last season. In 1996 he was chosen for the All-American second team, and in 1997 he had the honor of being placed on the first All-American team.
