The “Thinking Man’s Quarterback,” as Bob Griese came to be known, had a 14 year career with the Miami Dolphins, from 1967 – 1980. He helped lead Miami to a perfect 17-0 record in the 1972 season, when the Dolphins won their first Super Bowl title, and the following year, led Miami to a second consecutive Super Bowl championship.

Miami retired his jersey, # 12, and it is still the only Miami Dolphins jersey retired. He was elected by the fans to be the quarterback of the Dolphin’s Silver Anniversary team, commemorating their first 25 years.
