Success never came easy for Brian Griese, but quitting has never an option for the Chicago Bears quarterback. Griese, a Miami native, is the son of NFL legend Bob Griese. Brian gained no immunity sharing the same name as his celebrity father. As a walk-on at the University of Michigan, Griese spent two seasons on the bench before injury struck and the Wolverines called on Brian to lead their team to victory. Griese started for the remainder of the 1995 season, which peaked with an upset of #2 ranked Ohio State. Returning to the bench during the beginning of the 1996 season did not dampen Griese’s morale. Again, Griese replaced quarterback Scott Dreisbach against Ohio State, where he led the Wolverines to yet another upset victory over the Buckeyes.

Desire to succeed fueled Griese in his quest to becoming an elite quarterback. Griese led the Wolverines to an undefeated season and a share of the national championship in 1997. Selected as MVP of the Rose Bowl, Griese looked to the NFL for hopes of becoming a powerful contender. The Denver Broncos selected Griese in the third round of the 1998 NFL Draft where he began his career as a backup to John Elway. Griese has consistently completed a high percentage of passes, and has had four seasons with better than a 64% completion rate. After leaving Denver, Griese enjoyed stints with the Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he proved to be a value commodity with strong experience.

His achievements were cut short in Florida when he suffered from a knee injury. Griese was never one to give up though. He signed with the Chicago Bears in 2006 where he has been showcasing his quarterback abilities ever since.
