Named to the Florida High School Association All-Century Team, Brooks starred as one of the Top 33 players in the 100 year history of high school football in Florida’s history. In addition to that, he won a state championship in football while attending Booker T. Washington high school.

Playing for Florida State, A Derrick Brooks appearance for the Seminoles was a regular occurrence since he was a four-year letterman, and Brooks was even named a first-team All-American in his senior year. He was also a member of the 1993 Seminoles National Championship team.

Having been selected in the first round of the 1995 NFL Draft by Tampa Bay, Brooks went on to participate in the Pro Bowl every year from 1997 to 2007. This made him one of four players in history to be voted to 10 Pro Bowls, named Defensive Player of the Year, as well as Super Bowl Champion. He has also been named All-Pro nine times.

Brooks’ other accolades include 2006 Pro Bowl MVP and a 2004 Bart Starr Award for his non-football accomplishments in the Tampa Bay community.

Brooks is also the founder of the Brooks Bunch charity and youth scholarship foundation, as well as the Brooks-DeBartolo Collegiate High School in Tampa. In 2000, Brooks won the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award and was named to the Florida State University Board of Trustees in 2003 by Governor Jeb Bush.
