He was also selected twice as an All-American. A Don Meredith appearance was also very popular in Texas, where he is known was the only quarterback to play amateur football for a Dallas area team and for the Dallas Cowboys.

Meredith was selected by the Chicago Bears in the third round of the 1960 NFL Draft, but they traded him to the Cowboys for future draft picks. In 1976, he was inducted into the Cowboys’ Ring of Honor and was chosen as winner of the 2007 Pete Rozell Radio-Television Award of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

In 1966, Meredith was named NFL Player of the Year, and the quarterback was also named to the Pro Bowl three times.

Off the football field, a Don Meredith appearance was seen on an episode of King of the Hill, as well as several movies and television shows including the “Police Story.”

Don Meredith Endorsement

One of the most notable Don Meredith endorsement was his work with Lipton Tea in a series of commercials in the 1980s. But the real target audience of a Don Meredith endorsement is obviously Dallas Cowboys fans, with whom he’s known as Dandy Don.
