During his college career at the University of Georgia, Herschel Walker set an NCAA freshman rushing record, was All-American for 3 years and also set 10 NCAA records. As a junior in college he won the Heisman Trophy and then in 1983 he left the University of Georgia to play in the short lived United States Football League.

In 1986 Herschel Walker entered the NFL and played for the Dallas Cowboys. He became All-Pro and led the league in rushing. He was made part of a massive trade involving the Minnesota Vikings, for whom he played a few seasons, as well as the Philadelphia Eagles, before heading back to the Dallas Cowboys. In 1997 Walker retired from the NFL.
