Largely considered one of the greatest – if not THE greatest, depending which ranking you check – outside linebackers in the history of the NFL, Jack Ham’s on-field success began long before his pro football days. Even in Ham’s three years as a starting linebacker for Penn State, the team compiled records of 11-0, 11-0, and 7-3. In his senior year, Ham had 91 tackles, four interceptions, and was an All-American.

The first Jack Ham appearance in the NFL came in his first game of his rookie season with the Pittsburgh Steelers because he managed to win the starting left linebacker job. That success would spur him to a career with 32 interceptions, 25 sacks, and 21 fumbles recovered. Those numbers place Ham in the elite Defensive 20/20 Club (20 interceptions and 20 sacks) alongside names like Ray Lewis, Seth Joyner, and Rodney Harrison.
