Jason Taylor is an American football defensive end for the Washington Redskins. However, he began his career with the Miami Dolphins, having been drafted first by the team in 1997 NFL Draft’s third round. In his 11 seasons, the Jason Taylor appearance in the NFL has included a total of 117 sacks, which places him third among active players. He has also played in six Pro Bowls and has won numerous awards including the 2006 AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year, and the 2007 Walter Payton Man of the Year Award.

Taylor attended a homeschooling program from 10th to 12th grade. However, this didn’t stop him from participating in athletics at Woodland Hills High School. In college, Taylor was a four-year letterman and three-year starter. He got included twice in the First-Team All-Mid-American Conference as a junior and senior, as well as an All-America pick as a junior. In 1996, he was named National Defensive Player of the Week for his play against Virginia Tech. In 2004, he became the third person ever inducted into Akron’s Ring of Honor.
