Although offensive lineman might not have the glitz and glamour of the other offensive weapons on the field, without good ones, teams can’t be successful. With good offensive lineman, other offensive players can star. Few people proved this better than Joe DeLamielleure, who was an offensive lineman for the Buffalo Bills and a central figure in the “Electric Company,” the Bills’ offensive line that paved the way for O.J. Simpson to rush for 2,003 yards in 1973. Behind DeLamielleure, Simpson became the first player ever to break the 2,000-yards in a season barrier, and the only player ever to do so in a 14-game season.
In 1980, DeLamielleure was traded to the Cleveland Browns where his blocking prowess helped again, this time for NFL MVP Brian Sipe. DeLamielleure was the first player ever to block for a 2,000 yard rusher and a 4,000 yard passer.
Joe DeLamielleure Speaker
Today, DeLamielleure is largely involved in charity work, and any Joe DeLamielleure speaker appearance wouldn’t be complete without him discussing his work raising money for impoverished children throughout North America.
Joe DeLamielleure Appearance
There was a Joe DeLamielleure appearance in six pro bowls. DeLamielleure was also a first-team All-Pro selection six times and was a member of the NFL’s 1970s All-Decade Team.
Joe DeLamielleure Endorsement
There is currently a Joe DeLamielleure endorsement for the All-American Football League, a spring league that is hoping to fill a void of the now defunct NFL Europe.
