From start to finish, Ottis Anderson had a remarkable career in the NFL. The former University of Miami star kicked off his NFL career with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1979, and he exploded for 1,605 yards that season to win the Rookie of the Year Award. Anderson rushed for more than 1,000 yards in each of his first six seasons, and then moved on to the New York Giants. As a Giant, he won the 1989 NFL Comeback Player of the Year Award for again hitting the 1,000-yard mark, and the following year he was named the Super Bowl MVP as his 102 yards helped the Giants win Super Bowl XXV. He ended his career as a member of the elite club of running backs with 10,000 rushing yards. Only recently have some of Anderson’s college records been broken, and he still ranks near the top of numerous lists for NFL records. Since retiring, Anderson has shifted his focus to the business world and charity work.
