While his stats might not look as impressive compared to today’s wide receivers who benefit from West Coast-style offenses, Paul Warfield was the Randy Moss and Marvin Harrison of his era (and perhaps even better than those two). A tremendous all-around athlete who was born and raised in Ohio and starred at Ohio State, Warfield was a first round pick of the Cleveland Browns in 1964. He played for the Browns for six seasons before being traded to the Miami Dolphins, where he made the NFL Pro Bowl in each of his five seasons there. Warfield won two Super Bowls with the Dolphins and was a member of the incredible 1972 team that went 17-0 and is still the only undefeated team in NFL history. Warfield also spent some time in the upstart World Football League before returning to the Browns and retiring in 1977. He was an obvious choice for the Pro Football Hall of Fame and has worked as a broadcaster for many years after retiring in addition to various positions as a football executive.
