Steve Largent was never the fastest or biggest wide receiver in the NFL, and in fact he was rather small and slow, but that didn’t stop him from becoming one of the greatest pass catchers the game has ever seen. Originally traded for an eighth-round draft pick, Largent recorded 101 touchdowns and more than 13,000 receiving yards in his career. When he retired after 14 years with the Seattle Seahawks, he held numerous NFL records and he was an obvious choice for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. After his football career ended, Largent pursued a career in politics and was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives for Oklahoma from 1994 to 2002. He ran for governor of the Sooner State in 2002 and came up just 7,000 votes short. Although still active politically, Largent is now president and CEO of CTIA, a coalition of organizations in the wireless communications industry.
