Terrell Owens started playing football in high school, where he gained popularity after becoming a starter during his sophomore year. With his size, speed, and excellent ability, Owens was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round of the 1996 NFL Draft. The following year, he became a star name for the team, helping them win 13 games that season.
In 2004, Owens signed with the Philadelphia Eagles, and fans strongly supported his move to the city. The season was a great start for the Eagles, winning each of their first seven games, and 13 of their first 14 games. Owens was also able to prove himself by averaging a touchdown catch per game before being injured late in the season. Owens had a severe ankle sprain and a fractured fibula as a result of a horse-collar tackle on him in a game against the Dallas Cowboys. As a result of the high-profile injury, the technique has since been made illegal.
A soap-opera-style feud eventually erupted in the media between Owens and beloved Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb. As a result, the Eagles released him, and Terrell Owens joined the Dallas Cowboys as a wide receiver where he continues to make regular headlines for both his successes on the field, and his antics off the field.
