Craig Stadler earned the nickname “The Walrus” because of his bushy mustache and somewhat rotund figure, but he could also be called “Steady Stadler” for his many years of consistent play on both the PGA Tour and Champions Tour. Born in San Diego, Stadler won the 1973 U.S. Amateur Championship and was a top college player at USC. He turned pro in 1975, and although it took him five years to win his first tournament, he needed just two years after that to win the 1982 Masters. He has won more than 30 tournaments in his career and in 2004 was the leading money earner on the Champions Tour. When he’s not playing, he’s helping his son Kevin Stadler, an up-and-coming player on the PGA Tour.
