Cristie Kerr started playing golf at the age of eight. A Cristie Kerr appearance on the amateur golf scene led her to win the 1994 Junior Orange Bowl International Golf Championship, and she was the 1995 American Junior Golf Association Junior Player of the Year.

Her performance in the Open tournament matched that of her performance in the 2006 Women’s British Open. In 2006, she won the Franklin American Mortgage Championship where she topped the tournament leaderboard with a 19 under par. With three wins, she was the only American to win more than one event on the LPGA Tour. In 2007, she won the United States Women’s Open Championship, her first major title. She was also a member of the United States Solheim Cup team in 2002, 2003, and 2005.
