One of the top golfers on the PGA Tour in the 1980s, Curtis Strange is still going strong on the PGA Champions Tour (formerly the Senior PGA Tour). Born and raised in Virginia, Strange won an NCAA Championship as a member of the Wake Forest University golf team. He turned pro in 1976 and picked up his first PGA Tour victory in the 1979 Pensacola Open. Then in the 1980s, Strange won a total of 16 tournaments, including the U.S. Open in 1988 and 1989. He was named the PGA Player of the Year in 1988, the same year he became the first player to win $1 million in a single season.
