After his successful collegiate career, Bobby Allen went on to become the 52nd overall pick by the Boston Bruins in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. In 2002, he was traded to the Edmonton Oilers. In July 2004, Allen was signed as a free agent by the New Jersey Devils. Two years after, he was again signed as a free agent by the Boston Bruins, appearing in most games of the 2006 to 2007 season with the Providence Bruins, Boston’s AHL affiliate. The first Bobby Allen appearance with the Boston Bruins was in January 2007 in a game against the Buffalo Sabres.
